HOSPICE: UTQG has an ongoing community service project providing quilts for our local hospice centers at the Collierville location and at Baptist Hospital.  Making the quilts is a team effort shared by our members.

Community service provides kits from our donated fabric.  Members sew quilt tops. Then tops, batting, and backing are assembled and other members quilt them. Then as the process continues, still other members add binding and a label.

The quilts are approximately 40" X 60" but can vary in size.

In the past two years we have provided between 100-150 quilts per year.

We just wrapped up the Habitat for Humanity Welcome Home Quilts which were presented to the new homebuyers on June 13.

We had a great response and would like to know if anyone would like to do this again for 2027.

Community Service June Message:

Hello.

We (Pat D, Sandy L and Kay S) have served as community quilts chairpersons and have been on the committee for many many years. We are so very grateful for all of you who faithfully help with making each and every beautiful quilt we donate. We turned in 4 quilts this month to the hospice center in Collierville.

Your board members gave me many quilts during the board retreat, and they took home kits too. We will be showing them to you soon.

This past year we turned in 60 quilts to the hospice center in Collierville and 6 to Baptist east. But that's not all, 28 wall quilts were donated to the Habitat for Humanity “Welcome Home” community service project led by Kathy C, 18 bed size quilts to the children's home in Fayette County. AND we sold a quilt and some fabric to be used to purchase batting for $494.00.

We, as a committee, thank each and every one of you for all you do for our community. Your generosity is beyond compare. Respectfully, Pat D
