Show and Tell is everyone’s favorite part of the meetings. If you cannot attend the meeting in person to share your projects, you can submit pictures and information about your projects to our guild email address utquiltguild@gmail.com Be sure to put Show and Tell in the subject line and include your name and any information you want to share. The deadline is the Sunday before the meeting.

Pictures shared online and in person will be uploaded to the Guild’s FB after each meeting.

$tash for Ca$h is also a monthly feature of our meetings. We welcome the treasures that you bring. These are items that need a new home and can go to a new home the night of our meeting.  Members pay what they feel is appropriate but if the items are left at the end of the evening, please take them back home.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

We will follow the guidelines for Shelby County Schools in the event of inclement weather, particularly ice and snow but applicable for any weather event which impacts safe travel to and from the Uncommon Threads Quilt Guild monthly meeting.  If the schools are closed, the UTQG meeting will be cancelled.

Discussion was held regarding the option of switching to a virtual only meeting but concerns for the completeness and timing of the notification led the board to follow the practice of cancelling the meeting if there is a weather event with the potential to impact the safety of our members.  This decision is not applicable to the UTQG Board meetings as they are held virtually each month.

January Meeting

Tuesday, January 27, 2026

Hi UTQG! I hope you are all staying warm in this winter weather. Due to how slick the roads might be in the sub-freezing temps this week, the AccuQuilt program is being postponed. More details will come shortly.

On Tuesday, our January meeting will be on Zoom, the Program will be a virtual presentation on Quilt Labels courtesy of Dawn Carpenter and Dawn Heath. Log in on Tuesday (see below for link information) to see the Double Dawn's Quilt Labeling Program covering what to include in your quilt labels, how to design quilt labels for your quilts, and some different methods to attach them to your project.

The meeting will begin at 6:30, but please log in and join for some socializing between 6:00 -6:30. To begin the meeting Janice will briefly share some business /announcements.

If you were planning to bring Show and Tell and you are able to take and send a picture of the quilt(s), please do so. Show and Tell pictures should be emailed before 3PM on Monday to:

utquiltguild@gmail.com

Please put “Show & Tell January” in the subject line.

If you are not able to take a picture before January’s meeting, you can either bring your Show and Tell to the February meeting or take a picture before then to share with our regular Zoom S&T.

The link for Zoom can be found in the email you received Saturday and in the reminder we will send on Tuesday. It can also be found on the Members Only page of the website.

February Meeting

Tuesday, February 24, 2026 â€‹- This program was postponed from January, please check back for any revisions before then.

Hopefully the new year has been kind to everyone so far. We have some very kind and generous members who, at our January meeting, will be doing a demo with their AccuQuilt machines. If you've ever been curious about how they work, what's the difference between models, what the die are like, how long the mat lasts, or any other questions, this is the Program for you!

We will have a few different AccuQuilt machines set up in stations that you can gather around to see a demonstration, then try it yourself. What will we do with all the cut fabric? Make a quilt, of course! We will be bagging up the pieces for different blocks to make a charity quilt kit. If a few members are willing to bring their sewing machines, we can even sew together a few of the blocks to see what difference the AccuQuilt cutting system makes!

More Details From Jane:

For the next meeting, we’re having both a sew-in AND an accuquilt cutting demo. We’ll be working on quilts for hospice, with a special emphasis on quilts for guys.

Kay S. has pulled coordinated fabrics, Sally N and Lynn M have picked out some background fabrics and backings from the donated stash. So we’ve got fabric coming.

Several of us will have the different dies we need, plus the different accuquilt cutters we own. We can show you how to cut to mass produce this simple 12 inch block, even if you’ve never used the accuquilt before. The block is pictured, a super simple flying goose sewn to a 3x6 brick shape.

We’re also bringing the corresponding squares that will make a 12 inch finished 9-patch, and/or a 12 inch finished 16 patch block. If you like the alternating block style, we can do that too!

If you have an accuquilt cutter that you can bring, the more the merrier. Especially great if you can bring a sewing machine! Post here if you’re willing to supply a accuquilt OR your sewing machine, I don’t want to leave any accuquilters out.

How many blocks do you think we can make in an evening? Let’s challenge ourselves!
