RETREATS

Uncommon Threads Quilt Guild plans an annual retreat at St. Columba Retreat Center in Germantown, TN.  It is the 2nd weekend in November and runs from Friday to Sunday with a pre-retreat day on Thursday and post-retreat day on Monday that are extra.

The retreat is open to all interested quilters with preference and cost advantages given to guild members.

CLASSES

Both classes originally discussed have had to be cancelled.  Please let a Board member know if you have an idea for a quilt teacher.

GUILD CHALLENGE

A new challenge will be announced soon.

The upcoming challenge will not be the art quilt genre and will include some piecing.  Remember, challenges help to make us better quilters and help our creative processes.

Watch for an announcement!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

HOSPICE: UTQG has an ongoing community service project providing quilts for our local hospice centers at the Collierville location and at Baptist Hospital.  Making the quilts is a team effort shared by our members.

Community service provides kits from our donated fabric.  Members sew quilt tops. Then tops, batting, and backing are assembled and other members quilt them. Then as the process continues, still other members add binding and a label.

The quilts are approximately 40" X 60" but can vary in size.

In the past two years we have provided between 100-150 quilts per year.

SPECIAL PROJECT:  We are collecting wall hangings that you may have made but no longer want.  These will be used to decorate the family respite room at the hospital.  If you have any you would like to donate, be sure they have a sleeve and bring them to the November meeting.
