Block of the Month

June 2006

Let's go simple again - and make a nice little 6½ unfinished friendship star block.

In honor of Memorial Day, Flag Day, Summer, and the 4th of July, let's do this one in Red, White, and Blue OR patriotic prints - or combinations of these!

Here's a sample wall hanging that you could make with your patriotic friendship stars.

This would also make a good picnic blanket or table cover, if you added more rows of stars.

Notice that some of the star points lean to the right, others lean to the left. It's okay to do it either way!

Another option to think about is to fussy cut a motif from patriotic fabric for the center of the star. You don't have to though, centers with contrasting prints or solids are great too!

On the left, my two blocks. I had a perfect size print for fussy cutting the center motif.

Remember, 6½ inches square unfinished

is the same as 6 inches finished!

For the FQ drawing, let's keep the same theme, red, white, blue, or patriotic prints.
