Summer Treats !

Well, we still have the steamy days of August to get through before we can start thinking about cooler weather. What's your favorite summer treat? From a bowl of sherbet, to ice cream floats to popsicles, cones, and watermelon, let's make summer edible applique blocks for this month.

We'll do these the traditonal "block of the month" way, draw names, and one winner will get all the blocks to take home. You can enter up to two blocks in the drawing, for two chances to win them all.

You can use ideas from some of the blocks I drew above, or invent your own block. Let's start with a 10½ square of fabric. Then applique your summer treat on, machine or by hand, however you choose.

These blocks would make a cute summer wall-hanging, picnic throw, table covering, or a 'sweet' kids quilt. ;)

Let's keep all the backing fabric white. Use white tone on tone or muslin, and it'll be easier for the winner to put the blocks all together in the same quilt.
